There’s a nice exhibition in Munich till the 24th of September: Isabel Bernheimer presents the multimedia cross-over-project »vanitas« with the artists Victor Alaluf and Jan Kuck at the Bernheimer-Gallery. You can discover plenty of drawings, collages and a video-installation by Victor Alaluf and objects, sculptures and an installation by Jan Kuck. These modern works are put into relation to historic objects from the cabinet of wonder, an anatomic skeleton, as well as a painting by Hendrick de Fromantiou. »Nix verstehen ist besser als gar nichts« [Not understanding is better than nothing at all]. That was the theme of Gülbin Ünlü’s latest exhibition. Gülbin Ünlü is Gülbin Ünlü! And Gülbin Ünlü would not be Gülbin Ünlü if she wouldn’t produce those nice pieces of art like Gülbin Ünlü does. At the art:ig gallery in Munich for example. Gülbin presented a very tight and nice variety of her legislation in mixed media: Ebru, painting, collage and digital artworks. Especially this first picture was my absolute favorite. Sorry for the shitty quality of the photos. I should get used to take a better cam with me at all times. [Thanx for this nice view on your work Gülbin!]

Sunday was Groszday. I mean it was a beautiful day. The weather was tiptop and we made a trip for once. We drove down to the lovely Lake Starnberg to visit the opening of an exhibition at the Buchheim Museum. And that was the place were it got amazingly Grosz. Because they are just showing over 200 great works by George Grosz: grafix, sketches, paintings, sculptures and multimediadocuments. I have been a Grosz fan already since quite a while, so I was overwhelmingly happy getting the chance looking at the intense pieces of this unique artist (1893 – 1959). Yesterday I visited this vernissage at MMA – Mixed Munich Arts. It was the exhibition of NOMNOMVEGA and AUGUSTCC, two extraordinary persons and well ambitious photographers. NOMNOMVEGA is Nadya Vanessa Vega. Rawness but squareness seems to be a motto of her partly quite erotic pictures which look like taken from the real surreal life. Unordinary crooked people in a well-balanced camera-captured environment. AUGUSTCC is August Castell-Castell. In his photos you find the effervescence of euphoric inebriate people sucking in the captivating damp of the world in one moment or two. Snatches of instant happenings, key moments of auspiciousness and insensibility for aggravating inconveniences.

The vernissage was very well-visited. Due to reflexions I was unable to shoot accurate photos of the single framed pictures. Thats why I will only show a few impressions here. You should definitely visit the artists websites to get a fully loaded indentation about the distinguished works of them two.

Suggested by friends we did this Street-Art-Tour through London East. With nicest 28° we followed the leader to discover plenty murals, past-ups, stick-ups, graffitis and stencils. Karim gave a lot of insights and background-stories on the many artists working there legally and illegally. Within the four hours tour [!] we’ve seen works by Christiaan Nagel, Stik, Invader, Obey Giant, C215, Eine, Xylo, dr.d, Phlegm, Roa, Ben Wilson, Dal East, El Mac, Thierry Noir, Clet Abraham and Pablo Delgado who has a current exhibition at Howard Griffin Gallery where the tour ended. The tour was definitely good and I have the straight feeling I will do it again some day. There is too much to see and the pieces of work change quite rapidly. And well, I took too many fotos to show them all here, so I dropped a lot of them on >> flickr >> check them out if you like. Sorry if I forgot to name a few important artists here, it’s just too much to handle. I did my best. About two weeks ago Gabriela von Habsburg showed plenty of her lithographies and some of her smaller iron-sculptures at the German Hop Museum in Wolnzach. Listen up: It’s Hop Museum, not Hip Hop Museum. Exactly, it’s the stuff you make beer from. Joking aside: Eduard Kastner from the Kastner AG opened the evening with a speech on the upcoming european elections. The vernissage was very well visited. A few hundred people, I would guess, started absorbing the artworks of Gabriela before heading over to the amazing buffet waiting outside. The tables were stuffed with characteristic snacks from all european nations. All in all it was a pretty interesting event. [Thanks a lot to Eduard Kastner for the invitation!]

Die Landung [The Landing] – Gülbin Ünlü and Helene Gette are presenting an installation of hanging paintings at the Akademiegalerie in Munich. Their ambition is to push the room into new scenarios by not using the usual walls it provides. As result they created a parkour of their artworks relating to the escape plans of the “New World”, like “MarsOne 2023”. At the opening the two artists gently took the visitors hooked under and showed them around, explaining all the certain bits of their works, handing over their own interpretation personally.

“Maschinen lügen nicht– Machines do not lie” was the theme of the exhibition Tim Wolff gave today at the Nusser & Baumgart Gallery. Tim’s works within the lines act like words and he puts them together into new constructions and ever new assemblies. It is like he is seeking for the basic language everyone spoke before, before culture was even invented … a long time before, a long time before everything became so complicated … and the machines speak this language today, and they speak it simple, clear and easy. The machines they shout it out at us in a straight way. The machines, they don’t care, they don’t lie. [Thanx for a great evening with a lot of philosophical impulse and thanx for being there with such nice people]

In a hidden room, behind draperies, a massive video-play is waiting for you. You have to watch this clash of commercials and cut-outs, put together into a damn nice screening, absorbing the mind and spilling out a lot of inspiration into the brains of the people consuming it at all times. Five TVs, in a set, producing an atmosphere of confusion and desire. The sound of the thing really got me freaking. You have to feel the basslines and the choreography of the screens together with their own single sounds; it’s mind-blowing … well done Tim! The exhibition will last till the 8th of April. Last Friday, the 17.1.2014, Claudia Macias, Timor Miscevic and myself had the pleasure throwing an exhibition at the Weltraum in Munich. We where completely astonished that so many nice people came along. At this point we would like to shout out a big “thank you all”, especially to Rudi for hosting us. After some time Galeria Autonomica comes back with a great show at the Citymuseum Munich. The whole thing is curated by Christian Minke and Christoph Pankowski. Sadly the exhibition only lasts for 48 hours. But it was a good comeback with a lot of artists displaying a nailing variety of works. Today I had the great pleasure to look at the works of Peter Schaffhauser at Weltraum 26 in Munich. Peter is collecting nostalgic stuff and he puts the things together into new context. As viewer you instantly start puzzling about the meaning. And you will find a lot of those meanings yourself. When I entered at first I thought the titels of the artworks are blank, but it turned out that you can open the little cards displayed next to the pieces, to find truly great conclusions about the things put together. Apart from doing those cool things Peter writes columns for the online-paper agitano [>>]. If you want to look at his works, the exhibition is still on for the whole week. Make an appointment at Weltraum26 [>>] to see all of it. You shouldn’t miss it. The UAMO (Urban Art and Media Organisation) festival is back in town. After the world city tours UAMO is now taking place at the EINSTEIN, with installations, photography, paintings, performances, objects and illustrations from more than 5o artists.
